BIOMEDICAL

Biomedical waste encompasses all waste containing contagious (or potentially contagious) materials; including both solids and liquids. Biomedical waste also includes waste generated from biomedical research involving the production and testing of biological products. Any waste that is suspected to be infected requires proper disposal to protect healthcare workers, the general public, and the environment.
Biomedical waste must be discarded using containers properly labeled with a biohazardous symbol.
